Remortgaging

People look to remortgage their property for a number of reasons. Sometimes it’s simply to get a better rate than their current lender can offer. (NB you may have to pay an early repayment charge to your existing lender if you remortgage - we can advise about that).

But remortgaging also becomes advisable - even necessary - in a number of other scenarios:
-
Raising funds (for example for improvements to your property). You can raise additional funding against your property in certain situations.
-
Debt Consolidation. Paying your debts off with a mortgage can potentially be a better option than paying heavy credit card interest rates.

(NB think carefully before securing other debts against your home. You may be
repossessed if you do not keep up payments on your mortgage).
-
Relationship break-up. Sadly, one of the things you might need to consider following the break-up of a relationship, is what happens to any shared property.

Your home is at risk if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or other loans secured against it.
